Dr. Dr Ulhas Pandurangi

We are extremely thankful to Dr. Ulhas M. Pandurangi and his entire team for the outstanding care and support provided during my father's pacemaker treatment. From the very first consultation to the successful completion of the procedure and post-operative care, everything was handled with great professionalism, precision, and compassion. Dr. Ulhas sir expertise and calm demeanor gave us immense confidence, and his team was equally supportive, attentive, and kind throughout the process. They ensured my father was comfortable and well-informed at every step, which made a big difference in his recovery. Thanks to their efforts, my father is recovering well and feeling much better. We truly appreciate the dedication and commitment shown by Dr. Ulhas Sir and his team. Highly recommended to anyone looking for quality cardiac care.

In November 2008, Dr. Pandurangi diagnosed and treated my father for Ventricular Fibrillation by implanting an ICD (Internal Cardioverter Defibrillator) near the heart so that it can defibrillate the heart whenever it goes into V-Fib and regulate the electric impulses. This was one of the first such operations and implantations done at MMM Hospital and perhaps in Chennai. An article on this surgery also appeared in The Hindu Newspaper to much acclaim for Dr Pandurangi and MMM Hospital. The ICD was manufactured by Medtronics, a US based medical technology company. Unfortunately, the operation performed by Dr Pandurangi the first time was not done properly, and my father underwent a second surgery within a few days to secure the implantation properly. However, after the second surgery, the ICD was not programmed properly and kept shocking (actual strong electrical shocks) the heart very frequently because the V-Fib tolerance levels were not programmed correctly. It was one of the most harrowing and nightmarish experiences for my father and for everyone in our family; and we had to rush to MMM Hospitals almost twice a week for about 4-5 months. Unfortunately, the ICD device itself, we later found out through independent verification, was faulty and Dr Pandurangi and MMM Hospitals lacked the skills to properly program, implant, monitor and calibrate it. After about 6 months of suffering from repeated shocking of the heart muscles by the ICD, my father, who never before had any heart issues passed away from one such episode where the iCD device kept sending increasing electrical shocks until the heart stopped. An ICD implantation is not that complicated and many people go on to live successful lives after implantation. Nonetheless, the problem was lack of competence on part of Dr Pandurangi and a bit of dishonesty in admitting that the device was itself faulty to begin with. We paid Rs 45 lakhs just for the device, and much more in medical bills, but also lost our father under the most stressful circumstances within a span of 8 months from when the ICD was first implanted. In honor of our Father's beliefs in Karma and Fate, we decided to accept our fate and move on, without resorting to legal claims etc. Nonetheless, the least I can do to help others is to share this review so that people take it into consideration when choosing Dr Pandurangi, MMM Hospitals or any product manufactured and sold by Medtronics when it comes to their healthcare.

He is a fantastic doctor with excellent behaviour towards patients. Apart from his medical skill, he gesture & confidence will heal you 50% just by meeting him. He is like a GOD for me.

Worst doctor i have ever seen. No respect to the patient. No proper diagnosis. Commenting on patients medical conditions sarcastically trying to make his trainee women doctors to laugh. I jus want to report this on ground. And never suggest this doctor. He had already spoiled the reputation on MMM Hospital where he works. I wont recommend this hospital because of this one doctor. I dont know how a doctor include patience preference as his diagnostics....
