    Patient Reviews

    Gourmet tales by krupa`s kitchen

Not reliable at all. He will only pressurise each patient for each then 2s echo and then angiography irrespective of the seriousness of the illness. Highly not recommended.

In this review I would refrain from giving opinions, but try to furnish only the facts leaving for the readers to decide, because I am not qualified to comment on a physician's competence. But one gets down to writing reviews when s/he feels obliged to the society to share his unusual experiences. My wife's cough continued for much longer than a fortnight. It was an allergic cough, obviously because the air quality in Mumbai was bad for previous several weeks. But my wife has a pacemaker, and she was worried so we went to Dr. Tripathi to end any doubts. Better safe than sorry, we thought. First he did an ECG so along with consultation fee Rs.1000 we paid Rs. 500 for the ECG. There was nothing in the ECG, because there was nothing anyway. I had mentioned to him that my wife was allergic to certain conditions that had aggravated recently. But instead of concluding it at that stage, Dr. Tripathi advised a CD (Colour Doppler) Test. He said if ECG is normal, we have to go for the higher test to reconfirm. As mentioned before my wife was extra concerned so in spite of my resistance, she went for the CD. We paid another Rs. 2500. If you do CD then ECG was unnecessary but we were billed Rs. 4000. Normally doctors advise higher tests if things are positive in lower ones to eliminate doubts. But with Dr. Tripathi, the reverse check is also necessary, in spite of me telling him about the factors of allergy aggravating. Anyway, if that wasn't all; in the prescription Dr. Tripathi advised us more tests and one of them was NT ProBNP. And we went for that also. Believe me my wife was too anxious and none of my arguments would assuage her apprehensions given that Dr. Tripathi doubted "Coughing could be due to heart problems and if so that could be cause of serious concern.". When my wife learnt, this test was going to cost Rs. 6000, suddenly she realized and backed off. That's when we consulted a pathologist and another radiologist friend, they told us this test was taken only in emergency, and later on Google search, we found out, that emergency was an event of "Heart Failure". What made Dr. Tripathi, a DM Cardiology, think that there was need of this test is beyond me. A woman comes walking to your clinic, you took an ECG and also CD. They all fine. Her husband tells you about her allergy but instead of paying heed to anything you push them into taking higher and higher tests, including a test of heart failure for a walking talking person! Obviously, we didn't pursue it further. My wife's allergy subsided with time and anti allergy medicines, which we were anyway taking and he also prescribed and we followed that course. Observations and Questions -- In olden days ordinary doctors would do such simple diagnosis by just checking the pulse. Nowadays, superspecialists can't do it even with advanced tests. Is is all for making money? Really do we need to stoop so much down? Given the kind of responsibilities doctors have towards the society? Given the facts that patients are also well educated and you can't simply take them for ride for long.
