To, The Management, Red Cross Hospital Subject: Feedback & Complaint Regarding ICU Experience on 08-09 July 2025 Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing this feedback to share our recent experience at your hospital and bring a matter of serious concern to your kind attention. My 7-month-old baby was admitted to the ICU on 08/07/2025, referred by Dr. Sewali Kalita. Upon admission, everything seemed fine. However, shortly after an hour, when an IV line (saline) was inserted into my baby's hand, he began crying continuously. I tried to ask the on-duty nurse the reason behind his discomfort. To my surprise and disappointment, the nurse responded in a very rude and unprofessional manner. I calmly tried to explain that we had admitted our child to get medical help, not to be treated like a burden. Instead of explaining or reassuring us, the nurse continued her unpleasant behavior. I was shocked and felt helpless, especially since the attending doctor was also not present during this time. When I approached Dr. Kalita's chamber, she initially seemed defensive and asked why I was arguing with the nurse. After I explained the entire situation, she did take action and instructed another nurse to attend to my child and ensure proper care in the ICU. That part was appreciated. Unfortunately, the next day, the same nurse--Ms. Jayshree Dey--was again on duty and repeated the same behavior, showing disrespect, miscommunication, and a complete lack of empathy. Despite waiting the whole day, Dr. Kalita only arrived at around 7:30 PM, by which point we had already decided to take a forceful discharge from the hospital due to the continued mistreatment. To make matters worse, we were not even given a proper discharge summary or any prescription from the doctor. During our time in the ICU, we observed that two other patients' attendants also had similar complaints about the same nurse. Let me clarify--we are very satisfied with the rest of the ICU staff, who were supportive and caring. But the behavior of this one nurse, Ms. Jayshree Dey, created such mental stress that we felt unsafe and unheard as concerned parents. Our humble request to the hospital management is: Please look into this matter seriously and ensure such incidents do not happen with other patients and families. While we do not plan to return based on our experience, we hope no other parent has to go through what we did. Our child was forcefully discharged on 09/07/2025 at around 8:30 PM.
