Ancient temple more than 1300 yrs old with historical incidents and significance. Serene and divine place. Cows and calves welcome the devotees at all the entry gates of this temple. Well maintained calm and placid. Presiding diety is lord shiva referred as hrudayaaleeswarar. Poosalar, one of 63 nayanmaars built a temple in his heart and invited Lord shiva for the consecration, where at the same time, King Narasimha varman also had constructed a huge shiva temple at kanchi and had fixed consecration on the same day. Lord shiva appeard in Kings' dream to help and fulfil the wish of Poosalar to built a temple and thus this beautiful temple was constructed. Goddess parvathi is worshipped as maragadambal here.

One of the oldest sivan and Maragathambal temple. It's around 1300 years old. Very divine. It's located in Thirunindravur.

Divine place in a serene environment. It was a surreal moment for me personally to visit the temple for the first time after knowing its history. Poosalar sannidhi placed inside linga garbagraha is a unique aspect.

After entering the temple only i realized that i had entered from the back side of the temple. Temple has a beautiful history. Lord Shiva honoring one of the nayanmars, namely poosala naayanar, by telling the pallava king that he intend to go to Thiruninravur rather than be present for the kumbabhishekam of the temple in Kanchipuram. Was so so happy that when i stepped in special pooja was about to start, and it was so wonderful to hear one of the locals singing Thiruvasagam in such a high pitch voice. Was clearly surprised to see crowd building, (didn't know it was thai ammavasai), since normally people don't come to a shiva temple. Had a wonderful darshan of the Lord and Ambal, with the milk, curd, turmeric abhishegams, with people singing Thiruvasagam and other religious chants. For my part i did sing the thevaram songs. Temple faces east, no rajagopuram, Kodimaram present, Lord faces east, Ambal faces south. no 63 moovar statues. An exception in this temple which is not present in other shiva temples, is the presence of Poosala nayanar statue inside the sanctum sanctorum. Though temple built by the pallava king, not sure how the gajaprushta vimanam is present. Probably must have been reconstructed by the cholas who followed the pallavas. Parking area present in the front and back of the temple, but not sure it can hold many vehicles.
