Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore: The treatment provided at Ramakrishna Hospital is excellent. The doctors are very approachable and take the time to explain medical conditions and procedures clearly, which is truly commendable. However, there are a few critical areas where the hospital needs serious improvement: Basic Hygiene Facilities: Toilets are not stocked with soap, which is a basic hygiene requirement in any healthcare facility. When inquired, staff mentioned that patients or attendants must purchase soap themselves. This is unacceptable, especially in a hospital environment where sanitation is paramount. Treatment of Attenders and Charges: The way attenders are treated needs significant improvement. The charges for attendants of ICU patients are unreasonable, and it's disheartening to hear that ICU charges vary depending on room tariffs. If the hospital mandates that one attender must be present for ICU patients, then adequate and affordable accommodation should be provided. Expecting people to sleep in uncomfortable waiting areas is not just impractical but inhumane. Additionally, there are concerns regarding billing practices -- ventilator and ICU charges seem to be based on assumptions of full facility usage, regardless of actual usage. While the hospital operates under the name of a Trust, the approach feels overly commercial, raising concerns about who is truly benefiting from such policies. Overall, while medical care and doctor expertise are excellent, the administrative and support systems need urgent attention to align with the dignity and compassion that patients and their families deserve.

Great service by professional doctors. Reduced one star as I would expect the common places to be more cleaner. And more seating should be provided near waiting areas.Good hospital. Efficient doctors. Courteous staff. Rooms are kept hygienic with intermittent cleaning over the day. Affordable price. Overall one can trust the hospital and get their treatment from here. My wife was admitted in the Ramakrishna hospital avarampalayam coimbatore, i enquired for admission in the reception area, they checked for availablity of rooms. They have general ward, single and double sharing rooms. General ward is very cost effective which is around Rs.650 but only drawback is gender specific attenders are mandatory and they don't get a bed to rest. Mid range Rooms around 2-3k are not available instantly and need to be booked 1 day prior. These rooms are allotted on first come first serve basis. Since we weren't aware of this, we had to opt for deluxe room single bed with AC which costed 4K which includes patient food. This room also has a comfortable bed for the attender as well. Another important aspect is that your entire surgery cost depends on the room you opt. If you go for a room with lesser price, doctor's fees, bed charges, etc. are summed accordingly. If you opt for deluxe, entire cost almost doubles your budget. Another extremely supportive hassle free part is that If you have insurance, you can just reach out to insurance desk and provide them your details. They'll take care of the rest and we don't have to do the paperwork. This is so relieving at tense situations when we'll be juggling between many things. operation was successfully done by Mrs.Lakshimi Mam.. Kudos for her.. deep thanks to her. I have no complaints about the doctors there. They have experienced specialists who are trustworthy. The Nurses were extremely cooperative and did their job very neatly. None of them showed any disgust or frustration while handling the patient which was very commendable. The only negative experience i had is that my insurance was processed around 11PM. I couldn't leave at that time with my wife who had undergone a surgery few hours ago. Hence I informed them that we would be vacating the next morning. While settling the bills the next morning, i was asked to pay room charges for the entire day 4K. It was Sunday and obviously there were no admissions lined up. I'm not asking for free service but they could've been a bit humane and considered the purpose for not vacating the room previous night and charged reasonably. The person who billed was least bothered to even give it a thought as it wasn't her money anyway. As mentioned earlier, food was included in the package. But they didn't provide food on the day of vacating and covered it up with their own reasons. As we'd paid bed charges for the entire day, we decided to vacate late. I don't know what bothered the nurses. They kept asking every now and then when we would vacate. This made us feel really awkward and we moved out just to get rid of being ill treated. This was like we had to pay 4K just to keep the room locked for the rest of the day. Had they shown a little courtesy, we wouldn't have returned with a negative impression.
My mother recently underwent knee replacement surgery at Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, and the entire experience was excellent. From admission to discharge, everything was handled smoothly and professionally. The doctor took great care of every detail and ensured a successful procedure. The nursing department was outstanding very attentive and supportive, which really helped with her fast recovery. Cleanliness was consistently maintained throughout our stay, and the hospital environment felt safe and comfortable. A heartfelt thanks to the entire team, from the doctors to the support staff, and special appreciation to the management for their coordination and support. We are truly grateful!
Great service by professional doctors. Reduced one star as I would expect the common places to be more cleaner. And more seating should be provided near operation theatres and waiting areas.
My father was admitted in ramakrishna hospital for last two months due to lung related issue. Dr. Arun Gangatharan(pulmonologist) was our primary doctor, he was really supportive and treated my dad with almost care and was very respectful towards the attender. he explained us clearly about the nature of the disease and the complications. Though my father passed away i would thank Dr. Arun for what he has done over the two months. I also thank ICU doctors Dr. Mari anandham, Dr. Navanith, Dr. Ramkumar, Dr. Vel kannan, Dr. Sri Ram for all the support during my fathers time in ICU. they all were clearly explained us the situation and tried to support my father in the best way possible Big thanks to all the ICU nurse team and MS-4 nurse. I would like to mention that general ward, class B, special A wards are not good in this hospital for any critical patient. we noticed if you pay money you will get good support else they treat you like stupid. during my father two months period we took rooms in all the possible wards according to our financial situation worst ward was general ward. Rude behaviour of the nurse station espicially male staff, insulting the attenders and scolding them for complaining about the situation to management.showing the frustration towards the patients and not treating them properly. lethargic replies. very worst attitude of the behaviours. one of the reason for my fathers death is lethargic of the nurse team in the general ward hospital needs to give the same care and support for all the ward patients irrespective of the money you pay
I am from England and seen the excellent humanitarian health care under the NHS. My 90 year old mother was admitted for emergency support. We informed the doctors that she prefers conservative palliative treatment. However, Dr. Murugesh, the gastroenterologist and Dr. Madheswaran told us that she needs to be in ICU. Being in the medical field myself, I asked how different the treatment modality would be in general ward or ICU. When it is clear that the treatment is the same, we requested that she be treated without invasive observations. They refused to treat and asked us to leave. They were also in a hurry to get my mother and sister out of the hospital and we're constantly bothering them. They used fear tactics to persuade. This is the most unprofessional doctors, I have seen in my life. Its all about making money, no humanity what so ever. So, dont go to Ramakrishna hospital if you really need palliative care. They treat you as a cash cow.
Good care by doctor, nurses and other staff. A few suggestions to make this hospital more safe and hygienic. 1. Add more visitor toilets. It was very difficult to locate visitor toilets in block A and B. 2. Provide hand wash soap in all toilets and bathrooms. Surprised to see missing of this important hygiene item in a big hospital. 3. Install electric air dryer in toilets for drying of wet hands after hand wash. It's another essential hygiene items in a big hospital. 4. Bathroom floor and ward room are too polished and slippery. These are high risk areas for falls.
We had good experience throughout the care stay. Doctors were very transparent and staffs were helpful. Rooms and entire premise is neat and clean. One point for improvement would be the mobile network which was very low where we stayed.
