Dr. KMF Hospital

Have admitted my relative in this hospital recently. It's a mission hospital and the treatment cost is comparatively cheaper. Recently taken over by CMC Vellore hospital and has improved the facilities a lot.. Really a nice hospital and the one and only multi speciality in Kotagiri so far.

I came to know about this hospital through my friend and cmc vellore doctors visiting here monthly twice Doctors and staff friendly but we took long time to meet doctor

Their out-patient services are excellent. The Christian missionary ethos can be clearly felt in how the staff and doctors care for patients. What was shockingly disappointing was our experience in the emergency and casualty ward, when we found that there was not a single nurse/doc/paramedic present at 8 pm on a Monday evening. Had to wait for 20 mins for the doctor to show up. You would expect a sense of urgency in the casualty dept, but not here. Even when the first nurse arrived after 15 mins, she was completely clueless where everyone else was and couldn't tell us when the doctor would come. Moments later the head nurse appeared from somewhere and phoned in the doctor and after 20 mins the doctor showed up. You could watch and hear the nurses chatting and giggling with each other, which is not the ideal temperament for a casualty ward, especially when disgruntled patients are waiting for a doctor. We were glad that it was a minor emergency for us. If it was a life or death situation, I'm not sure we would've made it. Even the BP apparatus was not functional. I guess it's natural for staff in casualty wards to get desensitised to emergency situations over time, but if this is your calling, then you have to take it seriously. As a hospital you just can't have the casualty dept completely empty with no one to receive patients. Also after the doctor arrived, the billing was to be done first in the ground floor, but now the billing staff is missing. How can you waste a single minute in an emergency ward escapes me. We were very saddened to experience such blatant disregard from a hospital with such rich heritage.

Waiting time is too long. You get to meet the doctor after an hour or more even if the hospital isn't crowded. You can come in with pain and wait till you are fine without treatment and leave.

ENT treatment was unsatisfactory. I should have visited the doctor along with my dad, instead of going there alone. Billed money for a treatment when she knows that cannot be completely done that day. Unhappy.

I would say this is the best hospital in Nilgiris region. The doctors are very well qualified - most of them are MDs or MSs from CMC Vellore hospital, very experienced and they give great personal attention to every patient. Of course, they charge much much lower than any other clinics. My wife and I were driving down to Coimbatore, waiting on line for a long time paying huge fees but we cannot compare the care that we get from KMF with those giants. I would sincerely recommend people to make use of this great blessing that is available right in the heart of our city.

Dr Jason Thomas is the administrator along with his specialised team of doctors offering 100 percent service to patients. Great hospital with a tremendous deal of improvements and great committed service.

Good doctors .The only place in the Niligiris for reasonable medical treatment.
