Dr. Gateway Hospital

A total disappointment, At least that's the kind of experience we have had with Gateway clinics and hospitals, R.S. Puram very recently. It's quite unfortunate. We felt exploited in more than one way. I would rather say GWC misused the trust we placed in them. My mom - Mrs Mangalam, aged - 77 years had been suffering from supposedly an Acid Reflux condition for past few weeks with symptoms of heartburn, incessant vomitting, loss of appetite, severe headache which made us approach Gateway Clinics and hospitals for the treatment (Numero uno in treating gastric problem - A popular perception). Well, to begin with, they did an endoscopy and came up with a few findings. The report findings suggested other anomalies that weren't directly related to supposedly Acid Reflux suggesting further scans. This time, it was a CT scan of the neck area done at Aran Diagnostic Imaging Center (Recommended by GCH). The report came out fine. Obviously it had to come fine as mom had absolutely no other issue other than her initial complaint & symptoms supposedly Acid Reflux. Lesser said the better about Gateway Clinics hospital. You can read between lines - how most hospitals carry out certain scans & tests which are absolutely not relevant or necessary from the patient's condition or its treatment point of view. During her day care treatment at Gateway clinic, the treating doctors digressed and shifted focus from the primary concern which was supposedly Acid Reflux. The Endoscopy report did suggest that the spinchter was not closing after the food was pushed down causing stomach acids to escape, move upwards & causing erosive oesophagitis (Resulting in vomiting and losing body fluids) After having gone through everything, we felt we were back to square one. Despite all the tests, the diagnosis, the explanation given by the treating doctor was the following: That Acid Reflux is something which can relapse anytime. That's not rocket science. We all know that for a fact. After giving 3 days of day care treatment, (from 31 May 2025 till 2 June 2025, the treating doctors finally prescribed a couple of tablets and syrup for about a couple of weeks to treat her condition. They could have avoided the Endoscopy procedure (Under General anesthesia - Done on our request as mom had a choking issue) which led to a CT scan of Neck being done for no apparent reason. (GCH misdirected us). I am beginning to have my serious doubts about the Endoscopy report itself now. I can substantiate and base my suspicion & grievance as they totally failed to diagnose the cause of the patient's problem and hence their entire line of treatment was questionable, inadequate and ineffective. Having gone through a hellish experience, this is what we got at the end. In fact, I should be saying, we only lost in terms of mom's continued suffering , misdiagnosis by Gateway clinics & the inability to treat mom, (Ineffective / incomplete treatment & we spent / lost Rs 35k (INR 35,000) which went down the drain. All the treating doctors of Gateway Clinics hospital should review the whole case - Patient name: Mangalam Balasubramanian, Age 77 yrs, at least once, and hopefully backtrack a bit to check as to what and why things went awry. We totally understand that, the specialists try and do their best possible & treat many patients with varied problems and diseases, however, I can speak only from the experience we had with Gateway clinics which involved mom who is a sr. citizen and totally blind - Retinitis Pigmentosa) Post Gateway clinics hospital treatment, their prescribed tablets or syrup were totally ineffective despite taking the prescribed medication on time exactly as advised. Subsequently, in a couple of days mom's symptoms relapsed, worsened and intensified, with incessant vomiting, severe headache, heartburn. From the time of admission everything was well organized. Our room was allotted on time. The surgery happened on time, both the doctors and the nurses took regular care. Overall the hospital was neat and all staffs were helpful.

All the staffs and doctors were very friendly and explained things clearly which kept us calm through out the process. Hospital premises was maintained very neat and clean. Overall We are very much satisfied. Special thanks to Dr senthil sir.

Very good experience with DR.sendhil sir and DR.PIYUSH SIR...more informative and communicable..they first understand our problem before d treatment.. very good staffs and they r professional in their work..All d best for their FUTURE ENDEAVOURS..
