Crowds are common, yet the institution remains a lifeline for those seeking quality treatment without the financial burden of private care. General Hospital, Trivandrum, is more than just a medical facility - it is a symbol of public service, healing, and trust built over more than a century.
One of the oldest hospital in the city. A combination of old and modern buildings. Almost all imaging facilities are available inside the hospital itself. Having free two-wheeler/four wheeler parking near the entry itself. Enough medical stores and allied facilities are also available outside the campus. Greenery is well protected.
General Hospital Thiruvananthapuram was established in 1865 by His Highness Karthika Thirunal Maharaja of Travancore. The booking can be done online, which saves a lot of time. The service is satisfactory, as they provide decent care. There is also a dental department in the hospital. However, the building and its surroundings are not well-maintained. There is no proper seating arrangement for patients. Most medical tests need to be done in private labs, which are much more expensive than the hospital bills. The auto stand and bus stop are right in front of the hospital.
Good health service from state government. Good atmosphere. But some issue like parking fee and toll fee for the ward. Its very unfair poor peoples are coming for treatment then why they doing this?
I visited the general hospital near Vanchiyoor, Trivandrum, with a student who fainted. At the casualty, the staff at the OP ticket counter were slow and made me wait a long time without explanation. The hospital was unhygienic, with blood on the beds and floors, and it wasn't well-maintained. The staff were rude and unhelpful. I can't understand how anyone can go there for treatment. And the fun part was they forgot to remove cannula from the patient's hand how pathetic
The very first place which comes into one's mind if you are sick and need medicine free of cost or in a cost effective way. The government run general hospital. Hospital has its merits and demerits. Huge waiting time and unhygienic surroundings is the biggest drawback. One could find doctors for almost all the specialities over here. The biggest drawback one pharmacy with two/three counters for all the medicine disbursement. People have to stand in queue for hours just to get the medicines. Not enough waiting areas. If you are coming here on a rainy day it's the worst.
